Registration Now Open for Bentley’s
Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference in London, November 3-5, 2015

To Register, Visit http://www.bentley.com/YIIconference

EXTON, Pa., U.S.A. – April 15, 2015 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today announced that registration is now open for The Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference, being held Nov. 3-5 at the Hilton London Metropole in London, U.K. This global gathering of leading figures in the world of infrastructure design, construction, and operations features a series of presentations and interactive workshops that explore the intersection of technology and business drivers, and how they are shaping the future of infrastructure delivery and investment returns.

Chris Barron, Bentley Systems vice president, corporate communications, said, “We’ve been very gratified by the enthusiastic feedback from attendees to our Year in Infrastructure conferences. The participating executives from architectural and engineering firms, construction companies, and owner-operator and government organizations found the sessions to be engaging and well worth the relatively small investment in their time. Many were able to incorporate into their strategic planning the valuable insights gained on advancements in technology and best practices, and virtually all were motivated by the Be Inspired Awards finalist presentations on extraordinary projects that took full advantage of Bentley’s BIM advancements to enhance both project and asset performance. Attendees also greatly appreciated the opportunity provided to network with their peers and the industry thought leaders speaking at the event. To ensure your availability for our 2015 conference, taking place Nov. 3-5, I encourage you to save the date or, better still, to register now!”

In case you missed our webinar series the week of April 13, Faster More Productive Modeling with AutoPIPE, you can find the recording on demand http://pages.info.bentley.com/videos/?Filter=AutoPIPE

We have also collected and posted Q&A from the webinar for your review. If you have any additional questions from the webinar, please let us know.

1.      Can an existing OpenPlant Pipe model be imported into AutoPipe?

Yes, an OpenPlant pipe model can be imported into AutoPIPE using a .pxf file. Please see: http://communities.bentley.com/products/pipe_stress_analysis/w/pipe_stress_analysis__wiki/import-autoplant-pxf-file-into-autopipe

2.      What type of database does AutoPipe Advance work with Access and /or Sequel Server?

As of now, AutoPIPE uses Microsoft Access database. Please see: http://communities.bentley.com/products/pipe_stress_analysis/w/pipe_stress_analysis__wiki/18204.07-what-are-the-following-database-files-used-for-in-the-autopipe-folder

3.      Why is there no Stiffness input for a Hanger "V-stop" - like there are for Guides & Line Stops, etc. A V-stop could be a rod hanger & pipe clamp which could have a small stiffness compared to "RIGID".

An AutoPIPE V-stop has rigid stiffness setting by default. If you wish to consider a V-stop with support stiffness, select Support type = Incline.

4.      Will AutoPIPE automatically put the gasket between flanges?

A gasket is automatically inserted between flanges, but the material, allowable stresses and dimensions can be inserted/modified by going into the Flange Analysis dialog box.

5.      Will cadworks imports continue to be enhanced, as this is a very powerful tool

Yes, the Cadworx integration will continue to be enhanced.

6.      Do the piping specs transfer directly from the Openplant model to the AutoPIPE model?

Yes, the piping specs are transferred from Openplant to AutoPIPE, as long as the CADAP.map file is set up correctly.

7.      What is the best technique to connect or butt two runs of pipe together?

The best technique to connect two disconnected runs of pipe together is to use the Cut and Paste commands from the Edit menu.

8.      A weldneck flange has length like a valve - why build the 'RIGID’ option when one input like a valve could be developed.

This enhancement is on the backlog. Please see the following link for more information: http://communities.bentley.com/products/pipe_stress_analysis/w/pipe_stress_analysis__wiki/pipe-and-piping-compoents-enhancements-for-autopipe

9.      When importing an openplant model does it retain support locations or do you only import pipe routing?

Support locations will be retained. There are some limitations, please search for Limitations (PXF Import) in the AutoPIPE Help menu.

10.   What is major difference betwen Openplant and Autopipe?

OpenPlant is a plant design engineering spftware, AutoPIPE is a piping analysis software.

11.   Will importing autocad in lieu of cadworx be an option?

An AutoCAD file can now be imported into AutoPIPE using an Excel file, please see: http://communities.bentley.com/products/pipe_stress_analysis/w/pipe_stress_analysis__wiki/7584.02-03-c-import-autocad-dwg-dxf-or-ms-excel-into-autopipe

12.   Can a renumber of beam points option be added?

This enhancement is listed on the backlog.

13.   Can the Open PLant model and the AutoPipe model stay live connected 22.

At this time, there is not export back to Openplant, so any updates will have to be manually communicated and done by the designer.

14.   Can I export support loads calculated in AutoPipe to STAAD beam model?

Yes, support loads can be exported to STAAD.Pro, using a Pipelink file. Search for “Model to STAAD Using Pipelink” in the AutoPIPE Help menu for more information.
